Associated Women Employees of Capital Lumber
Associated Women Employees of Weyerhaeuser
(c) 2006, Mike Barkley
It appears that at
Capital Lumber and maybe at
Weyerhauser, qualified and
competent women managers are being systematically marginalized or forced
out. If you are a woman and feel you are being or have been discriminated
against in your employment with Capital or Weyerhauser, please get in touch
with us. Thank you.

November 10, 2006
To whom it may concern:
Effective immediately I am resigning my employment with Capital. I have
been and continue to be very disappointed with my employment with Capital.
Throughout my employment here, I have been treated as a second-class
citizen by my immediate superior because I am a woman. He has not
allowed me to do my job, he has interfered with every effort I have
made to assume responsibility and learn the business, he has withheld
critical information from me that I required to do what tasks were left
to me after he continued to perform tasks that were part of my job
description, he has expressed sarcastic glee in pointing out mistakes
I may have made in my duties rather than helping me to correct them in
the future while he has laughed off mistakes he has made, he has
countermanded instructions from his superior to allow me to do my
job and to allow me to get training and access to critical information
I need to do my job, he and several other members of this office have
made and continue to make comments disparaging of women in general and
me in particular, he has compelled me to change my written review of
his performance by making veiled threats, he has repeatedly violated
company policy and state law in his administration of employment
matters and ignored requests or orders to change this behavior, his
behavior has left me unable to trust anything he says without independent
verification, and his continued unfair treatment of me has left me
constantly upset and at a very high level of stress. I understand
that this behavior continues similar behavior he exhibited at his last
employment and thus there is no hope of it changing. I am alarmed at
the manner in which women continue to disappear from positions of
employment at the various branch offices of Capital and I am concerned
that his treatment of me has the support of higher management in Capital.
Very truly yours,
